Post subject: Replaced climate control pannel, didn't fix it. :(

Despite being a much nicer unit that does look and function better than the old one, not to mention it lights up on BOTH rows, it didn't change the fact that all my air only comes out of the defroster only, and I hear NO SHH when selecting different selections.
I thought it was because my old unit was failing but now by power of deduction, it must be something else. I've checked every vaccum line I can find, nothings unhooked or anything that I can tell.
Any ideas?

| sounds like you have a vacuume leak somewhere, or one of the 'solenoids' isnt working right. we just had a Chevy at work that was doing the same thing. I'll see if i have any spares in my storage unit. |

One of my cars had a split line coming off of the vacuum tree feeding into the firewall, which in turn fed the HVAC panel. You might want to check this area out again. Sean

You cab purchase a hand-operated vacuum pump for around $20; connect it under the hood to the line that goes through the firewall and to the HVAC stuff, pump up a bunch of vacuum.
Follow that by actuating the levers and listening/watching.
There is a vacuum motor that actuate the mixture door (switches from floor to panel to defrost (and whatever in between) and y9uo can see & hear what is happening assuming there aren't any major leaks. |

I replaced that line when I first got the car, as far as I can tell, there is no leak but obviously something's a foot since nothing under the dash responds to commands.
ctbus: I do not have $20 to spend on a vacuum tester, honestly, I'd be more inclined to put that into the GLS's gas tank. I know, it's hard to fathom somebody as broke as I am when you have money, but trust me, $20 for me is hard to come by. |

I had that problem too, try to accelerate your engine and when the rpms are coming down, switch the control, if it changes then you might wanna clean things up
Also, i fixed my dad's explorer blowing air into the vents while switching the controlers. check all vaccum lines and if you have a chance, blow air into the vents. I used a vaccum cleaner for that purpose
