Well.....
After installing my new Bridgestone Potenza RE960AS Pole Position tires, I've noticed that the clutch does not hold like it used to.
It doesn't slip when driving like a normal person, mind you, but for a 2000-2500rpm launch, rather than the old tires which would immediately start spinning and howl for grip, letting the engine get into the powerband and significantly improving acceleration, now....there be no tire squeal.
Are there any somewhat grippier aftermarket clutches available for these cars? I'm not really finding any, just what looks like OEM-equivalent kits. Which I will destroy very quickly, with how I am to the clutch in this car. I will never deny that I deserve this kind of life out of the clutch. |

Your clutch may be fine with the differences in how the car launches being found strictly in the compound of the tires. Other than that, others have stated that the clutch & pressure plates available for the 2.3 OHC motors found in Mustangs can be used on our cars. There are plenty of racing pieces for the 2.3 OHC motor, so that definitely opens doors for us. Mlburgoon has made several posts on the subject, so you might want to check into his thoughts / findings on the subject. Sean
