Looking for leads
I live in Massachusetts but I'm not afraid to travel for the right car. It's got to be reasonably clean/rust free.
Prefer 2 door car but will consider a 4 door
Must be 3.0 V6
Must be manual trans (unless they are easy to convert to MT with readily available parts)
Other than that, I don't care wha the trim level or color is. Ideal car would be the 92 Tempo GLS I used to have but in blue Mine was red. ANY leads what so ever would be greatly appreciated as long as it's in the Conti USA or Canada.
Thanks in advance....John |

Sort of, I'm dealing with a guy that has a relatively local (3 hour drive) XR5 2 door stick car for sale with a bit of rust but he seems to be a bit of a flake, for lack of a better term.
High ish (140K) miles but the car otherwise sounds good. I'm very interested in this one.
I found 2 within about 6-10 hours that are 4 door auto cars but if I were to go with those, would want to convert to stick or as a last resort to get into one, an auto with OD. Wish me luck.
These things were rare to begin with, let alone over about 20 years later (it hurts to say that.) |

| I'll keep it in mind. How many miles and what kind of rust are we talking about? |

If you find a 92 XR5, let me know. They are becoming very few and far between. I own a beat up one that is not in driving condition. The last one I saw in running condition in my part of the country (Rocky Mountain and the plains states) was about 3 years ago. It was in worse cosmetic condition than the one I own. Tempostud (from Utah) has one that he bought a number of years ago that is probably in excellent condition. I don't think he wants to part with it. Unfortunately, most folks that had 92 sport models don't know how rare they are, so most met the crusher. Value wise, they may not ever be worth much, but that is all in the eye of the beholder.

Well, I've tried to get pics of this 92 XR5 from this guy but he isn't apparently capable of making a photobucket account and numerous attempts of him sending pics to 2 of my emails failed. Id sounds like a decent car though. Some surface rust, Ford maintained with lots of recent maintenance work, 1 owner etc.
I tried one more time but I won't waste anymore with this guy. Pretty disappointing. There is a very nice GLS 4 door 5 speed car in Wa and I'm getting burnt out on searching for a more local, clean car. Still would rather have a clean 2 door though. I'm in Massachusetts so that would be quite the ride. |

Perhaps you could ask this guy to get some help in sending some pic's to you, or get him to agree to meet you in person at a half way point.
Remember... those XR5 and GLS models are quite rare and would be worth going the extra mile for.
BTW.. that 4Dr. GLS, 5spd. in Wa. IMHO is very rare indeed! |

| Awesome, thank you for the lead. Is that a typo? Says it's AWD, 3LV6 and manual, looks like an older than 94 car but has the V6 badges? |

Yes, I'm thinking you'll need to have everything listed there verified .
Getting the VIN number would be a great help in checking things out.
Still looking for a V6 , 5spd. coupe for you, they're really hard to come across. (my last one maybe for sale at some point soon, I know the girl that bought from me) If you go to the pic forum and do a search for "The Former Fleet" , its the green one that I'm refering to. |

| My apologies. I just have been absorbed in work. I thought that I had PM'ed you on this when you posted the details but I guess not. This car sounds like it's too far gone imo. If I find a clean auto I may revisit this one if it's available for parts though. Thanks and sorry again. |

| Brian, is this thing still around? I had hopes of doing better and finding a clean one but they keep slipping away. I'm looking to do something within about a months time or hopefully less. i'm afraid i'll end up in an escort zx2 in the end but i'm still holding out for some majic to work out on a GLS or a combo of a couple inexpensive cars to make one up. |
