My spedometer stopped working after I recently purchased the car. The car is an automatic 4cyl with factory installed cruise control (different that dealor installed I learned). When I dropped the tranny pan to do a fluid change I inspected the plastic drive gear in the transmission thinking it would be destroyed. It was perfect. I found that my vehicle speed sensor causing the problem. The VSS is the 4" long sensor bolted to the top of the tranny that is what your spedo cable snaps into. When I took the sensor off I could barely turn the drive. I put a pistol drill on the spedo cable just to make sure I didn't have any more problems and the needle jumped right up.

I beleive the only car's that are going to have this are the ones with factory installed cruise control. You can buy one from Napa for $37.00. The dealorship I called reffered me to vintage parts.com and gave me their ECH VSS310 PN. I havn't looking into this one yet.

Got my sensor and cable from Rock Auto... Very Happy

$30 for the sensor, $10 for the cable... Ships to most US continental destinations for about $45 all-in.
