Hi,
I was wondering how much work would be involved in swapping the headlight assembly from a 84-85 tempo into an 86.
I've got an 86 tempo with a headlight that's both leaking (letting moisture in) and a broken mounting tab, I'd like to just purchase the headlight assembly from rockauto for an 84-85 and swap it into the 86. I know it's going to require re-wiring, but is the physical mounting the same? I really like the idea of going to the sealed beam lights!
Thanks,
Andy |

No, you'll need the "buckets" and the '84-85 grille/header pannel. It's a much bigger deal than just going ahead and ordering a new stock headlamp (set) for your car off eBay or rockauto.
IF you are really set on doing this, find a 1984-1985 Tempo/Topaz in the junkyard (or parting out on craigslist or around some farm/neighborhood in your area) and use it's grille/header pannel/headlamp buckets/wiring harness for the head lamps/etc. Krylon the plastic grille to match your car as best you can. |
