We could hire a 'Small person' type bouncer.
Peel and stick Smith and Wesson - Protected by stickers. (Hermie approved?)
Um an alarm - err squirrel sensor.
Which of the above seams "remotely" feasible if your door lock actuators are shot.
Have you priced these puppies? (OEM) ha.. Junk yard? Good luck.
Aftermarket? Oy fab, fab, fab...
So... WTH?!?!

Here's how I see it!!
Y would u need locks if there aint no handles!?!?!!!!!!!!
If you're going to the expense to buy actualtors, new or used, and all the work drilling and riveting, and other modifications/possible welding. Why not just buy a shaved door kit? This maybe my next approach! (Unless one of you talk me out of it) Keep in mind, there maybe no need to actually remove any handles for that 'stock' look.
Ok here's what I want to know.
Who here has done it?
What brand did you use?
Who has considered this?
Why didn't you?
What brand would you have used?
Ebay sells Autoloc (also Summit, Jegs, other 'main name' stores)
Other brands I've seen/heard, Protocol and Micro systems.
Today I was quoted $470 for a 4 door micro system.
Autoloc ranges per lb and extra features, alarm ect.
I was not quoted the rating just "It will work..."
Next was, how much for installation? "No, not for a p.o.s. Tempo"
So my local accessories shop won't do it. Just out the door.
Who's got the best tech support/manuals? My bosses advice was, just dont put anything valuable in the car..
Lol? that's not right...
So basically, I'll be forced into a DIY type system.
Im very weary of the ebay sellers listing as NO WARRANTY/AS IS.
Autoloc appears to be top of the line. And it costs that much too... |

I once left the keys in the ignition and the doors locked overnight. I don't know of anyone that would want to steal a Tempo. XD
But then again, with everything I've done to mine, it doesn't even need an alarm. I never bother locking it. The best anti-theft system is to make it so completely unnatractive to theives that if they take it, they'll return it with a note saying "PLEASE TAKE IT BACK, I'M SORRY!" |

Or you could just go into each door and disconnect each actuator. Then it's just a matter of using the manual lock buttons.
Unless you really want to go all out and fully customize your Tempo, there's not much point in going the shaved handle route.
Either way, you will need to get into your doors. |

Or just bang up the body panels like I did... My lock mechs are stuck (can't even lock manually!). I've left the keys in the key countless times (which, BTW, the car is parked on the street overnight, in a bad neighborhood) and still come back everyday to see it (sometimes, unfortunately) still sitting there.
No one, with even a quarter brain, will steal a Tempo, unless you have a **** ton of stereo equipment or something. All OEM, no one will even think about it. |

Edit: My 5 1/4" cost more than the door itself.. |

Ok... Go FRED!
BTW, for future info, all Fords (99.99%) have the same harness... lol
If I had roads like those over there, over here, I wouldn't have a license anymore (due to the amount of speeding tickets). Those country side roads are just straight and have the perfect curve to flow by with... WOW!!! |
